We last left off with a new L-window cab being applied to this Atlas B30-7 replacing the standard window cab.
About the only thing the old U33C L-window cab has going for it is the L-window. Other details, such as the bends in the roof, cab doors and alignment of the front windows are way off. That didn't bother me too much on the L-window cab since the air conditioner and ground plane distract from the roof bends and the tops of the front windows are supposed to be lined up, but other GE cabs on my models looked terrible which led to the line of 3D printed GE cab kits I made.
So it wasn't long before I printed a replacement cab for the replacement cab. This time I did the cab as a "used to be L-window" cab, since the prototypes were modified to have two individual panes of glass instead of the single large pane during the time period I model. Here is the 3D printed cab kit primed and assembled:
Details have been harvested from the L-window cab and applied to the printed used-to-be cab. The shell has also been modified to allow the new cab to fit.
New printed cab placed on the shell. I'll secure it after painting.
Paint applied.
Filling in those ugly seams.
Decals applied and lighting installed.
Finished.... for now?
